GunBloggers is a RSS feed aggregate site. It collects stories from member sites and calculates the most popular stories in the community and displays the top 10 at the top of the page. Below that are all of the member articles for the last 2 days, in order of posting.
The site was written because one of my favorite sites, the TTLB Gunblogs site has been broken since the first of the year. I wanted to see something like that work, and being a software developer I wanted to write it myself. The back-end uses several python modules (web.py, feedparser and xmltramp) and a MySQL database running on a Debian Linux server.
The current pages are functional, but ugly. My CSS design skills are weak at best, as you can see. If someone wants to make design suggestions, feel free. The current CSS file is css/style.css
I've re-instituted the Google Adwords and they seem to be working better now.
The posting times have been fixed as well as possible, I think. I am now tagging it with the time that GunBlogger.com first sees the article available in the feed. This prevents some blogs from pre-dating their posts so that they always appear at the top and gives a fairer representation of what articles are posted when.
